VAMPIRE FACIAL: SECRET TO NATURAL BEAUTY

You've probably seen the photos on Instagram: A celebrity or influencer's face covered with blood splatter.

It's actually one of the latest treatment trends in skin care, also known as a "vampire facial." Celebrities, including Kim Kardashian West and Bar Refaeli, are fans of the facial, which might look quite scary, but boasts big-time results.
So, what is it and how does it work, exactly? Don't let the name fool you.
In fact, its usually done in full light of day.

A vampire facial is a combination of microneedling and (Platelet Rich Plasma)PRP.
In laymen's terms: It's a facial that essentially uses, your own blood to help promote the healthy activity of your skin cells.

WHAT IS (Platelet Rich Plasma)PRP

Ø  Our blood is comprised of red blood cells and serum.
Ø  The PRP is derived from the serum portion of the blood, which contains platelets.
Ø  Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a concentrate of platelet-rich plasma protein derived from the whole blood after it has been processed by spinning in a centrifuge to remove the red cells.
Ø  The PRP has a greater concentration of growth factors than the whole blood.
Ø  This PRP containing high levels of growth factors, when applied to the skin, will stimulate cell turnover and stimulate collagen production.
Ø  Collagen is the protein in skin that keeps the skin young, firm and taut and act as energy boots for our skin.
Ø  It also increases antioxidant and hydrating properties.
Ø  Platelet-rich plasma is now commonly used topically as part of a regular facial, used along with microneedling to enhance penetration into the skin, and is even being injected into the skin in the same manner as dermal fillers.

·         The micro needle procedure using the Dermapen is a method of “collagen induction therapy” (http://csclinicdelhi.blogspot.com/2019/02/microneedling-all-you-need-to-know.html) also referred to as “CIT”.
·         The platelet rich plasma (PRP) delivery to the dermis further enhances the micro needle treatment so collagen and other skin enhancing support is stimulated by the growth factors in the platelet rich plasma (PRP).
·         The platelet rich plasma (PRP) also has factors which stimulate blood supply to the skin.
This creates a look of glow and luster to the skin which is unique to platelet rich plasma.
·
The treatment has become more popular in recent years especially with patients who are looking into more natural ways of rejuvenating their face or body, without using Botox or fillers. It is also used for hair loss.

THE BENEFITS
Benefits of PRP Facial Rejuvenation:
  • Increases collagen production
  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Firmer, tighter skin
  • Improves moisture retention
  • Enhances skin tone and texture
  • Improves Complexion

THE PROCEDURE
  • Your practitioner will apply a topical numbing cream on treatment areas and ideally numbing for 45 minutes to an hour.
  • While numbing, your blood is drawn. This should be quick and painless as we only collect 30 mL vial.
  • Your blood is then placed into a centrifuge for 9 minutes to separate the PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma, gold in color) from the PPP (Platelet Poor Plasma, clear in color) and RBC (Red Blood Cells, red in color)
    .

  • The PRP is then transferred into different syringes to later be injected or applied topically to the skin.
  • Some PRP will be injected into areas of concern.
  • The rest of the PRP is brushed on to the skin to serve as a lubricant for microneedling.
  • The benefits of the PRP procedure is the ability to use your body’s own cells to stimulate new tissue and healthy skin with you any risks of allergic reaction.
  • After the microneedlinng is complete, a hyaluronic acid serum will be applied and rubbed into the skin.
  • You should expect to leave this solution on your face for at least the next 4 hours to reap the benefits.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT
  •   Immediately after treatment, you may look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn and your skin may feel warmer and tighter than usual.
  •   Typically, the skin can appear pink for about 1-2 days however, makeup can be worn the next   day.
  •  Avoid direct sunlight 24-48 hours after your treatment.
  • It is recommended to use sunscreen with an SPF 25 or greater.
  • For at least 3 days post-treatment, do not use any Alpha Hydroxyl Acids, Retinol, Vitamin A, Vitamin C or anything perceived as active skincare but be sure to protect your skin with SPF 25+.

WHEN CAN YOU SEE THE BENEFITS OF THE TREATMENT

  •   While the immediate results after treatment may look red, bloody, and inflamed, glowing skin will appear in the following week and last for months.
  • While the skin tightens after just one vampire facial, the more frequently you undergo the Dermapen (as in, once a month), the better your results will be.
